Several Injured After Bus Crashes Into Tree Near Naujheel, Driver Allegedly Flees
Mathura News, June 28: Panic broke out in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district after a passenger bus travelling from Naujheel to Mathura crashed into a roadside tree on Sunday morning, leaving more than half a dozen passengers injured. The incident occurred near Saiyad village shortly after the bus began its journey from Naujheel.
According to eyewitnesses and passengers, the accident took place at around 10:00 AM. The bus reportedly went out of control before colliding with a tree alongside the road. The impact caused chaos inside the vehicle as passengers screamed for help.
Several passengers, including women, sustained injuries in the accident. Local residents and passing motorists immediately rushed to the scene and helped rescue the injured passengers from the damaged bus. They arranged alternative vehicles to transport the victims to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Naujheel for emergency medical treatment.
After receiving information about the accident, local police reached the spot and began an investigation. Medical officials referred the seriously injured passengers to the District Hospital, Mathura, while other injured passengers continue to receive treatment at the Community Health Centre.
Passengers Allege Driver Was Under the Influence of Alcohol
One of the passengers, identified as Radha Charan from the Govardhan area, alleged that the bus driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. According to his statement, the driver had allegedly consumed liquor before operating the vehicle, causing the bus to lose control.
Passengers further alleged that after the collision, the driver fled from the scene instead of assisting the injured or informing emergency services. These allegations have not yet been officially confirmed by the police, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Police Investigation Underway
Police officials have started collecting statements from injured passengers and eyewitnesses. The damaged bus has been examined as part of the investigation, and efforts are reportedly underway to trace the driver.
Authorities are expected to determine whether negligence, drunk driving, mechanical failure, or any other factor contributed to the accident. Appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

Road safety experts repeatedly stress that driving under the influence of alcohol poses a serious threat to passengers and other road users. Commercial vehicle operators are legally required to ensure that drivers are medically fit and free from intoxication before undertaking passenger services.
