MATHURA, July 10: The Uttar Pradesh government has transferred Mathura-Vrindavan Municipal Corporation Commissioner Jag Pravesh and appointed Ojasvi Raj as the new Municipal Commissioner. The transfer order was issued late on Thursday night, with Jag Pravesh being posted as Special Secretary, Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department.
Ojasvi Raj, who was serving as the Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Ballia, will now take charge of the Mathura-Vrindavan Municipal Corporation. Officials and civic stakeholders expect the administrative transition to take place shortly.
Jag Pravesh Served Since May 2025
Jag Pravesh assumed charge as the Municipal Commissioner on 17 May 2025. During his tenure, the civic administration focused on improving sanitation, removing encroachments, increasing municipal revenue and strengthening solid waste management across Mathura and Vrindavan.
His administration also worked on addressing waterlogging issues, expanding public amenities and enhancing municipal arrangements during major religious events and festivals. Several cleanliness drives were carried out during his tenure, contributing to improvements in the functioning of the municipal corporation.
Ojasvi Raj Expected to Review Ongoing Projects
Before his new posting, Ojasvi Raj served as the Chief Development Officer in Ballia. With prior administrative experience, he is expected to review ongoing civic projects soon after assuming office and prepare the next phase of development initiatives for the twin pilgrimage cities.
Municipal officials, employees and several social organisations have already begun preparations to welcome the newly appointed commissioner. The administration expects that ongoing civic infrastructure and public service projects will continue without interruption during the transition.
Focus on Urban Development
Mathura-Vrindavan Municipal Corporation continues to play a key role in managing sanitation, infrastructure, public facilities and civic services in one of Uttar Pradesh’s most important religious tourism destinations. The appointment of a new Municipal Commissioner comes at a time when several development and urban management projects are underway in the city.
