(Shyam Leela)

The divine performance beautifully depicted the transformation of Barbarik, grandson of the Pandavas and son of Bhima’s son Ghatotkach, into the revered Khatu Shyam Baba.

The atmosphere of devotion intensified as devotees listened attentively to the powerful narration filled with spirituality, sacrifice and deep philosophical meaning from the Mahabharata era.

The Story of Barbarik and His Divine Powers

During the Leela, Vyas Krishna Murari narrated how Barbarik performed intense penance to Goddess Jagadamba and received extraordinary divine weapons including a powerful bow and three mystical arrows.

According to the narration, Barbarik possessed such immense powers that:

One arrow could destroy the entire world.

The second arrow could kill an enemy no matter where they were hiding.

The third arrow was never required because the first two were sufficient to complete any mission.

Despite possessing unmatched strength, Barbarik remained committed to the teachings of his Guru and took a solemn vow to always support the weaker side in any battle.

Barbarik’s Dilemma During Mahabharata War

As the Mahabharata war approached, Barbarik found himself emotionally conflicted because both the Pandavas and the Kauravas were his own relatives and ancestors.

His promise to support the losing side created a complex spiritual dilemma.

At that moment, Lord Krishna appeared before Barbarik disguised as a Brahmin and asked him to demonstrate his divine powers.

After witnessing Barbarik’s strength, Shri Krishna asked for three promises as Dakshina.

The Supreme Sacrifice

In the first promise itself, Shri Krishna asked Barbarik to offer his own head.

Without hesitation and with complete devotion, Barbarik agreed and sacrificed his head to fulfill the divine command.

Lord Krishna, deeply moved by Barbarik’s devotion and sacrifice, fulfilled his final wish by placing his severed head on a mountain so that he could witness the entire Mahabharata war.

The emotional depiction of this sacrifice left many devotees in the audience deeply touched.

“Hare Ka Sahara Baba Shyam Hamara”

After the war, when the Pandavas began praising their individual bravery and achievements, Shri Krishna asked Barbarik whose valor he had actually witnessed during the battle.

Barbarik replied that throughout the war, he saw only the Sudarshan Chakra of Shri Krishna accomplishing everything.

Impressed by Barbarik’s spiritual wisdom and sacrifice, Lord Krishna blessed him and declared:

“From today onwards, your worship shall be equal to mine, and you shall forever be known as ‘Hare Ka Sahara Baba Shyam Hamara.’”

The powerful dialogue created an emotional devotional atmosphere inside the pandal as devotees enthusiastically chanted the name of Baba Shyam.

Special Guests Honored During the Event

Before the main Leela presentation, Vyas Krishna Murari honored the founder of Parshuram Shobha Yatra Samiti, Pandit Ramgopal Sharma Advocate, along with other office bearers by presenting them ceremonial patukas.

Several devotees and dignitaries participated in the Aarti of the divine forms, including:

Lokesh Garg “Samriddhi”

Naveen Mittal

Ashok Aadhatiya

Vijay Karodi

Rajni Tayal

Omvati Agarwal

Shashi Garg

Vandana Bansal

The program was conducted by Jugal Kishore Agarwal.

Devotional Atmosphere at Chitrakoot

The ongoing Gaurang Leela organized by Shri Ramayan Pracharini Samiti continues to attract large numbers of devotees every day.

Religious performances based on Krishna Leela, Mahabharata episodes and devotional characters have created a spiritually vibrant atmosphere in Mathura.

Devotees attending the event described the Khatu Shyam Leela as emotionally moving, spiritually uplifting and deeply inspiring.

Conclusion

The divine story of Barbarik’s sacrifice and his transformation into Baba Shyam once again reminded devotees about the power of devotion, sacrifice and surrender before God.

The Leela not only entertained the audience spiritually but also delivered a deeper message about humility, devotion and the importance of standing beside those in difficulty.

The devotional chants of “Hare Ka Sahara Baba Shyam Hamara” echoed throughout the venue as devotees immersed themselves in the spiritual atmosphere of the evening.

Laxman Prasad Yadav
(General Secretary)

Devotees became emotional during the Khatu Shyam Leela in
