The agitation has affected registry operations at the sub-registrar offices in Mathura, Chhata, Mahavan and Mant, with not a single property registration taking place during the day. The prolonged disruption is also resulting in significant revenue loss for the state exchequer.

The strike is being jointly observed by advocates, deed writers, stamp vendors, typists and clerical staff working at registry offices. Protesters have opposed the government’s proposed policy, alleging that the new system could adversely affect their livelihoods. Demonstrators said they would continue their agitation until the government withdraws the proposed changes.

On Thursday, the Bar Association Mathura extended its support to the ongoing agitation by abstaining from judicial work. Members of the association joined the protest in solidarity with advocates and deed writers associated with registry offices, strengthening the ongoing movement.

Bar Association Mathura President Advocate Raghavendra Chaudhary alleged that the proposed policy would negatively impact litigants while also affecting the livelihood of advocates, deed writers and stamp vendors. He stated that the Bar Association does not support any policy that harms the interests of legal professionals or the public and reaffirmed its complete support for the indefinite strike.

Registration Writers’ Committee President Advocate Suresh Chaudhary said advocates, deed writers, stamp vendors, typists and support staff working in registry offices across Uttar Pradesh would continue the movement until the government withdraws what the organization described as an unfair policy. According to him, the agitation will continue until the demands of the protesting groups are addressed.

Committee Secretary Advocate K.K. Chaudhary said the strike would be intensified with the cooperation of all stakeholders if required. He maintained that the government should reconsider its policy in view of the concerns expressed by professionals associated with registry work. Hundreds of advocates, deed writers, stamp vendors, typists and clerical staff participated in Thursday’s protest and reiterated their commitment to continue the agitation collectively.

With registry work remaining suspended for nearly three weeks, citizens seeking property registrations are facing delays, while revenue collections linked to property registrations have also been affected. However, no official estimate of the total revenue loss has been released by the district administration so far.

The ongoing protest reflects the position and demands of the participating organizations. An official response from the Uttar Pradesh government regarding the latest phase of the strike or the specific demands raised by the protesters is awaited.
