Mathura, July 3:<\/strong> Ahead of the monsoon season, Chief Development Officer (CDO) Dr. Pooja Gupta<\/strong> has directed all heads of government departments in the district to ensure that rooftop rainwater harvesting systems and other rainwater conservation structures installed on government and semi-government buildings are fully functional before the onset of rains.<\/p>\n The directive has been issued to strengthen rainwater conservation and groundwater recharge as part of the district’s efforts to address the growing water crisis.<\/p>\n The CDO instructed all departments to immediately inspect the rainwater harvesting systems installed under their jurisdiction and complete cleaning, repair and maintenance work wherever required.<\/p>\n She emphasised that every component of the system should remain operational so that maximum rainwater can be collected and groundwater recharge can be enhanced during the rainy season.<\/p>\n The departments have been instructed to ensure the proper functioning of:<\/p>\n The administration believes that proper maintenance of these structures will help maximise rainwater storage and improve groundwater levels in the district.<\/p>\n Dr. Pooja Gupta also appealed to residents of Mathura to actively participate in rainwater conservation and make it a public movement. She encouraged citizens to adopt rainwater harvesting measures at homes, institutions and commercial establishments.<\/p>\n She said water conservation is the responsibility of every citizen and stressed that collective public participation is essential for improving groundwater levels in the long term.<\/p>\n “Jal Hai To Kal Hai”<\/strong> \u2014 the CDO urged residents to embrace this message and contribute towards water conservation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The Chief Development Officer directed all department heads to treat the task as a priority and ensure that every rainwater harvesting system installed under their control is fully operational before the monsoon begins.<\/p>\n Mathura has witnessed increasing concerns over declining groundwater levels and rising pressure on drinking water resources.
