Mathura, July 6: The second phase of the School Chalo Abhiyan was formally launched at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Mathura, with a large-scale awareness programme aimed at encouraging school enrolment and promoting inclusive education.

The programme was attended by Baldev MLA Puran Prakash as the Chief Guest, while District Panchayat Chairperson Kishan Singh participated as the Guest of Honour. Chief Development Officer (CDO) Dr. Pooja Gupta and Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Ratan Kirti also joined the event along with education department officials.

Programme Begins with Traditional Ceremony

The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp before the portrait of Goddess Saraswati, followed by floral tributes. Students from council-run schools welcomed the guests with a Saraswati Vandana and a cultural welcome song.

Divyang Children Inspire the Audience

One of the most memorable moments of the programme was the presentation of the National Anthem in Indian Sign Language by hearing and speech-impaired students. The performance received appreciation from the audience and highlighted the importance of inclusive education.

Three Divyang students also showcased remarkable talent during the event. Two visually impaired children demonstrated impressive typing skills using a keypad, while another student, who does not have hands, captivated the audience by writing beautifully with his feet.

Impressed by their determination and achievements, MLA Puran Prakash honoured the children with cash rewards and presented them with floral garlands, applauding their courage and dedication.

Education Awareness Rally Draws Wide Participation

Following the cultural programme, an awareness rally was flagged off from the DIET campus. CDO Dr. Pooja Gupta, BSA Ratan Kirti, Block Education Officers (BEOs), State Resource Group (SRG) members, Academic Resource Persons (ARPs), officials from Samagra Shiksha and teachers participated in the march alongside schoolchildren.

The rally passed through nearby localities before concluding at the Upper Primary School located within the DIET campus. Participants raised awareness about the importance of school enrolment and quality education for every child.

The programme witnessed the presence of Block Education Officers Rakesh Kumar, Giriraj Singh, Kailash Prasad Shukla, Budhsen Singh, Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, Kaushal Kumar, Narendra Kumar and Vinay Pratap Singh, along with a large number of teachers, education department personnel and students.
