Mathura: A tragic incident was reported from Nagla Jagrupa village under the Surir police station area of Mathura, where a 45-year-old differently abled labourer died after being bitten by a venomous snake while sleeping inside his home. The incident has left the victim’s family devastated and cast a pall of grief over the village.

Snake Entered Room During the Night

According to family members, Nand Kishore (45), who had a physical disability affecting his leg, earned his livelihood through daily wage labour and by operating a local transport vehicle (tirri). On the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, he was sleeping on a mattress placed on the floor inside his room.

During the night, a venomous snake reportedly entered the room and bit him on the neck while he was asleep.

Children Raised the Alarm

Within a short time, Nand Kishore’s condition began to deteriorate and he started losing consciousness. Meanwhile, the snake moved towards a nearby cot where the couple’s children were sleeping.

The children woke up after noticing the snake and immediately raised an alarm. Hearing their cries, the victim’s wife and other family members rushed into the room and managed to move the children to safety.

Declared Dead at District Hospital

The family initially sought treatment at nearby medical facilities. As his condition continued to worsen, Nand Kishore was taken to the District Hospital in Mathura, where doctors examined him and declared him dead.

Police Send Body for Post-Mortem

After receiving information about the incident, local police reached the hospital and completed the necessary legal formalities before sending the body for post-mortem examination.

The exact cause of death will be confirmed through the post-mortem report and further investigation.

Family Faces Financial Hardship

Nand Kishore is survived by his wife and two children. As the family’s primary earning member, his sudden death has left the household facing emotional trauma as well as financial uncertainty.

Residents of Nagla Jagrupa expressed grief over the incident and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
