Mathura Police Arrest Man Wanted for Rape in Raya
Mathura police have arrested a 21-year-old man in Raya following allegations of abduction and rape of a 19-year-old woman.

Raya, September 24, 2026: Mathura police have taken a significant step in a local investigation by arresting a 21-year-old man who was wanted in connection with a case of rape and criminal intimidation. The suspect, identified by authorities as Sohel, son of Abdurrahman alias Rehman, was apprehended by a team from the Raya police station on September 23, 2026. The arrest was made around 12.25 PM near the underpass on the Bareilly Highway-Baldeo road, approximately 20 meters from the junction.
Details of the Investigation and Arrest
According to official records provided by the police, the case stems from a complaint filed by the victim’s family on September 18, 2026. The complainant alleged that the accused had abducted their 19-year-old daughter under false pretenses and subsequently committed rape. Furthermore, the complaint alleged that the accused had threatened the victim with dire consequences if she attempted to report the incident or resist his actions. Following the formal report, the Raya police registered a case under FIR number 305/2026, invoking sections 87, 351(2), and 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Given the serious nature of the allegations, law enforcement officials prioritized the case, initiating a search operation to locate the suspect. The Raya police team successfully tracked the accused to the Bareilly Highway location on September 23. Following his arrest, Sohel, a resident of Chamunda Gali in the Vyapariyan locality of Raya town, was processed at the station. Officials confirmed that all necessary legal formalities were completed before the accused was presented before the local court.

The operation was conducted by a specialized team from the Raya police station tasked with apprehending those wanted for serious offenses. The team that carried out the arrest included Inspector Karmveer Singh, Sub-Inspector Intezar Ali, and Constable 963 Ram Singh. Their coordinated efforts at the Bareilly Highway-Baldeo road underpass led to the successful apprehension of the suspect, who had been sought by authorities since the initial filing of the complaint on September 18. This action reflects the ongoing commitment of the Mathura district police to address cases involving crimes against women with urgency and professional rigor.
