MathuraNow

Mathura's news, written for Mathura.

Hyperlocal digital news for Mathura, Vrindavan and Braj.

Our story

MathuraNow was started by its editor, Himanshu Agarwal — a Mathura businessman and social worker. In 2021 he was elected Mathura district president of the Akhil Bharatiya Agarwal Mahasabha, which brought him close to the everyday problems of the city. He soon found that the ground reality was different from what reached the people in charge.

He came to believe that the most honest form of service was journalism: writing about the city's problems so they reach the administration and the people who can act on them, without phone calls or personal visits.

With some technical knowledge and the arrival of AI tools, he saw a way to do this faster and more consistently. MathuraNow uses AI to assist with drafting and translation. Every English story is approved for publication by a person; Hindi versions are produced with machine translation and are progressively reviewed by our team.

MathuraNow is run on a non-profit basis and is funded personally by its editor. Our coverage is independent of any organisation, community body or advertiser.
