Mathura, October 1, 2026: Preparations for the 21-day Shri Ramlila Mahotsav in Mathura have reached their final stages, with the local administration and the organizing body announcing the schedule for the upcoming cultural festivities. According to the official press release from Shri Ramlila Sabha (Regd.), the event will officially commence on October 3. The opening day will be marked by traditional Vedic rituals followed by a significant public procession that highlights the cultural heritage of the region.

Commencement Rituals and Traditional Ceremonies

The festival is set to begin at 10:00 AM on October 3 at the Shri Krishna Janmasthan Rangmanch. Officials confirmed that the proceedings will start with the sacred ‘Mukut Pujan’ and the worship of Lord Ganesha and Varun Dev, conducted according to Vedic traditions. Sabha President Jayanti Lal Agrawal and General Secretary Moolchand Garg stated that this ceremony involves the ritualistic blessing of the crowns and costumes worn by the performers who portray Lord Ram, Janaki, Bharat, Lakshman, Shatrughna, Hanuman, and other divine figures. The process of ‘Varan-Bandhan’ will ensure that all characters are ceremonially initiated into their roles for the duration of the 21-day event.
