MathuraNow

Free Braj Panchang & Rashifal API (Hindi + English JSON)

Free daily Braj Panchang and Rashifal as JSON, for non-commercial use.

Last updated: 31 October 2026

MathuraNow publishes the day’s Braj / Mathura-Vrindavan Panchang and a daily Rashifal. This free API gives websites, apps and bots the same data as simple static JSON files, in Hindi and English: no key, no sign-up, nothing to install.

What it is, honestly: the Panchang is for Mathura / Braj and is entered every day by a named author on our team. The Rashifal is drafted with AI help and published only after a person has read and approved it. It is not an all-India Panchang calculator. Free for non-commercial use with attribution (CC BY-NC 4.0); please show the credit line given below.

Quick start (5 minutes)

  1. Fetch a file. It is a plain GET; no key. Try it in a terminal:
    curl -s https://mathuranow.in/api/v1/panchang/today.en.json
  2. Check status. Use the data only when status is "published". While it is "pending", show nothing or “coming soon”.
  3. Read the values from data.fields (Panchang) or data.signs (Rashifal).
  4. Show the credit (attribution_html) next to the data, and the note with the Rashifal.
fetch('https://mathuranow.in/api/v1/panchang/today.en.json')
  .then(function (r) { return r.json(); })
  .then(function (d) {
    if (d.status !== 'published') { return; } // placeholder until the author submits
    console.log(d.data.fields.tithi, d.data.fields.sunrise);
    document.getElementById('credit').innerHTML = d.attribution_html;
  });

Prefer no code at all? Use the embed widget.

Embed widget (copy-paste)

One static script, no dependencies, about 8 KB. Paste the two lines below where you want the widget. It reads only the static “today” files, shows “Coming soon” while the day’s entry is pending, never breaks your page if something fails, and always shows a visible “by MathuraNow” credit link.

Live demo (Panchang in English, Rashifal in Hindi with the dark theme):

Copy this:

<div data-mathuranow-widget="panchang" data-lang="en"></div>
<script src="https://mathuranow.in/api/v1/widget.js" async></script>
AttributeValuesMeaning
data-mathuranow-widgetpanchang | rashifalWhich widget. The Rashifal widget has a 12-sign picker.
data-langen | hiLanguage. If omitted, the page’s lang attribute is used (default English).
data-themelight (default) | dark | autoColours. auto follows the visitor’s light / dark setting.

You may put several widgets on one page; load the script once. Please keep the credit link visible: it is the licence condition.

Endpoints

All endpoints are plain GET requests. Replace YYYY-MM-DD with a date such as 2026-10-14. A dated file exists only for dates that have a published entry (otherwise HTTP 404).

GEThttps://mathuranow.in/api/v1/panchang/today.en.json
GEThttps://mathuranow.in/api/v1/panchang/today.hi.json
GEThttps://mathuranow.in/api/v1/panchang/YYYY-MM-DD.en.json
GEThttps://mathuranow.in/api/v1/rashifal/today.en.json
GEThttps://mathuranow.in/api/v1/rashifal/today.hi.json
GEThttps://mathuranow.in/api/v1/rashifal/YYYY-MM-DD.hi.json

The Hindi and English variants (.hi.json / .en.json) exist for every date and both endpoints. The files send Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *, so you can call them straight from a browser. A machine-readable description is available as openapi.json (OpenAPI 3.1).

Sample response

A Panchang file (values shortened; the values below are an illustration):

{
  "version": "v1",

}

When status is “pending”

Before the author has submitted the day’s entry, the “today” file is a placeholder: "status": "pending", "data": null, "updated": null. It never shows yesterday’s data. Show nothing, or a “coming soon” message, and check again later. The expires field is the next midnight IST.

{
  "version": "v1",
  "widget": "panchang",
  "date": "2026-10-15",
  "lang": "en",
  "status": "pending",
  "updated": null,
  "expires": "2026-10-15T18:30:00+00:00",
  "data": null,
  "credit": null
}

(The remaining envelope fields are as in the sample above.)

Update time and caching

The author enters the next day’s Panchang, and then the Rashifal, the evening before (target 11:00 PM IST). At 12:00 AM IST that entry becomes the “today” entry: the “today” files switch to it on their own. If no entry has been submitted for the new day, the “today” files show a placeholder ("status": "pending") until it is. The dated file of an entry changes within seconds of each submission, and again if the author edits it.

  • today.*.json: Cache-Control: public, max-age=300 (up to 5 minutes).
  • Dated files, openapi.json and widget.js: public, max-age=3600 (up to 1 hour).
  • Please cache on your side for at least 5 minutes, do not poll more often, and do not add random query strings. Use expires to know when “today” ends.

Fetch examples

PHP (cache the result for a few minutes on your side):

<?php
$json = file_get_contents('https://mathuranow.in/api/v1/rashifal/today.en.json');
$d    = json_decode($json, true);
if (($d['status'] ?? '') === 'published') {
    foreach ($d['data']['signs'] as $sign) {
        echo $sign['name'] . ': ' . $sign['text'] . "n";
    }
    echo $d['note'] . "n" . $d['attribution_html'];
}

More examples (HTML widget, JavaScript, PHP) are in the public repository, together with the OpenAPI file: github.com/himanshu-ag-2026/mathuranow-panchang-api.
