Author Profile Guide — MathuraNow
MathuraNow has started a new program for our authors: a complete profile, and a genuine reader rating on every article. This page explains why both matter, and exactly how to finish yours.
1. Why a complete profile matters
When you write a news report, readers want to know who wrote it. A profile without a photo or any background feels less trustworthy. A complete profile — a clear photo, a short bio, and at least one social media link — gives real benefits:
- Readers trust your reporting more. A named, visible person behind a story reads as more credible than an anonymous byline.
- It helps search engines understand your work. When your name, photo, and background are complete, Google can recognize you as a real, consistent author across your articles. That is a genuine ranking signal, not a shortcut — it reflects real authorship, which is exactly what search engines are built to reward.
- It builds your own reputation over time. Readers start to recognize your name and your beat.
2. What the reader rating is, and why it matters
Every article now carries a simple 1-to-5 star rating that any reader can leave. Your ratings across all your articles combine into one average score, visible on your MathuraNow dashboard and on your author profile.
- A strong rating reflects strong reporting. Accurate, well-written, useful articles earn better ratings over time.
- This is a genuine, reader-driven signal — every rating comes from a real visitor reading a real article, not a purchased or manufactured score. That is exactly what makes it meaningful.
- One honest note: this rating is shown on the site itself, not as a star icon inside Google or Bing search results. Search engines do not allow a publisher to display its own self-rated score as a search rich result — but a complete author profile still helps your work get discovered, for the reasons above.
3. How to complete your profile
- Log in to your account.
- Open your MathuraNow dashboard. The “Your MathuraNow Profile” panel shows exactly what is still missing.
- On your profile page, add:
- A clear photo of yourself
- A short bio — two or three sentences about who you are and what you cover
- At least one social link (Facebook, X/Twitter, or Instagram)
- Save your changes. That’s it — your profile will show as complete.
4. The new article approval process
From now on, every new article — and any article you move from draft back to live — is first marked “Pending” until an editor reviews and approves it. Once approved, you will receive a confirmation email and your article goes live immediately. If you edit an article that is already published, it stays live exactly as it is — the only change is that an editor is notified to review your update.
5. Comments: turn readers into real followers
Every article now has a comment section, and replying to your readers there is one of the most valuable things you can do as an author:
- A reply builds a real follower. A reader who leaves a comment and gets a genuine reply from the author feels heard — that person is far more likely to come back and read your next article too.
- Comments and replies are visible to search engines. An active, genuine discussion under your article — real questions, real answers — is a signal that people are actually reading and engaging with your reporting, not just passing by.
- Encourage comments honestly. Ask a question in your article, invite readers to share what they know or think, and reply promptly when they do. The goal is a real conversation, not manufactured activity — that is what actually earns trust and a rating.
- One safeguard: after you reply to a comment thread, anyone who wants to comment further on that thread needs to log in. This keeps the conversation genuine and free of spam.
6. A few more things worth knowing
- Write and submit on your own time. You can now log in and submit your own article whenever it suits you — you don’t have to send it to your editor over WhatsApp first, though you’re welcome to keep doing that too if you prefer. Either way, it goes through a quick review before it goes live.
- Publish fast for breaking news. Once your article is approved and live, it can start appearing in search engines and AI answers within a few hours. For breaking news, publishing quickly matters — the sooner it’s live, the sooner it can be found.
- Always use an original photo. Upload a real photo taken for that story wherever you can, instead of a copied or stock image — it makes the article more credible and more likely to stand out.
- Share your own article. After it’s live, share the link in your WhatsApp groups and on your social media. Your articles are read across the country and beyond — sharing them yourself is what grows your own following and your name as a reporter.
