Mathura Police Arrest Man for Alleged Murder of Wife in Jamunapar

Mathura, September 10, 2026: Authorities in Mathura have taken a local man into custody in connection with the death of his wife. Officials from the Jamunapar police station confirmed that the accused, identified as Jagdev Singh, was arrested late on the night of September 8, 2026. The arrest follows allegations that he strangled his wife to death using a dupatta, a case that has sparked concern within the local community in the Jamunapar area.

Details of the Arrest and Investigation

According to the official police release, the suspect, Jagdev Singh, is the son of Om-Prakash. He is originally a native of Zaidpura, located within the jurisdiction of Tappal police station in Aligarh district. At the time of the incident, he was residing in Gali Number 02 of the Jamuna Bihar Colony, situated under the Jamunapar police station limits in Mathura. The arrest took place at the Jamunapar police station office at 11:10 PM on September 8, 2026. Police officers involved in the operation recovered the dupatta allegedly used to commit the crime.

The investigation began after a formal written complaint was filed by the father of the deceased. In his report, the complainant alleged that his son-in-law, Jagdev, had murdered his daughter by strangulation. Upon receiving this complaint, the Jamunapar police registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Following the registration of the case, the police moved quickly to take the accused into custody to prevent him from evading the legal process.

Official records indicate that Jagdev Singh is approximately 46 years old. This arrest marks another significant entry in his criminal record. In addition to the current charge of murder under Section 103(1) of the BNS, police records show that he was previously booked under case number 263/2025 at the same station. That earlier case involved charges under Sections 115(2), 117(2), and 351(3) of the BNS, indicating a history of legal trouble for the accused within the Mathura jurisdiction.

The operation to apprehend the suspect was led by a dedicated police team from the Jamunapar station. The team included the Station House Officer (SHO) Videsh Kumar, Sub-Inspector Mithilesh Upadhyay, Sub-Inspector Vikas Kumar, and Head Constable 827 Ved Prakash. All officers involved contributed to the apprehension of the suspect and the securing of the evidence recovered from the scene. Following his arrest, the accused was processed through the station for necessary legal formalities.
