Mathura, September 11, 2026: In a significant move to bolster the collective voice of the trading community in Mathura, the Nagar Udyog Vyapar Pratinidhi Mandal held a formal swearing-in ceremony for the newly constituted Sethwara Business Committee. The event, held at a local dharamshala, marked the formal induction of a new leadership team led by Omprakash Verma, who was elected as the committee’s president, and Pramod Agarwal, who assumed the role of general secretary. This initiative is part of a broader, city-wide organizational expansion project aimed at centralizing the power of local businesses to better address collective challenges and prevent harassment against the trading community.

The proceedings commenced with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp before an image of Goddess Mahalaxmi, performed by city-level leaders including Nagar President Sunil Agarwal, General Secretary Shashibhanu Garg, Sunil Sahni, and Treasurer Meenalal Agarwal, alongside the newly elected local office bearers. During the oath-taking ceremony, the city leadership emphasized their commitment to support the local unit against any form of exploitation. They explicitly assured the traders of Sethwara that the entire trading community of the city would stand behind them, prepared to launch collective movements or protests should any member face harassment in the line of business.

Addressing the gathering, City Vice President Gurmukh Das and General Secretary Sunil Sahni elaborated on the strategic importance of unity. They highlighted the benefits of creating powerful regional units, noting that the organization has already successfully formed over 50 such regional committees across the city. By decentralizing into local units while remaining part of a cohesive city-wide structure, the traders aim to create a robust network capable of addressing specific local issues efficiently. This organizational drive is currently being framed as a ‘Sangathan Parv’ or ‘Festival of Organization,’ aimed at ensuring that every market has a dedicated representative body to voice concerns and coordinate local trade interests.

Senior Minister Vikas Jindal and Treasurer Meenalal Agarwal reinforced this sentiment, explaining that the current drive is focused on gathering business owners to consolidate their influence. They stressed that the strength of the community lies in its unified approach to problem-solving.
