Mathura Traders Meet Municipal Commissioner to Address Key Development Issues
Mathura traders met with Municipal Commissioner Aojasvi Raj to address a 16-point charter of demands regarding infrastructure, sanitation, and pending administrative files.

Mathura, September 21, 2026: A high-level meeting was held at the Mathura Municipal Corporation auditorium on September 21 to address pressing commercial and civic issues facing the city. Municipal Commissioner Aojasvi Raj presided over the marathon session, which included top-tier officials from all relevant departments and representatives from the Udyog Vyapar Pratinidhi Mandal. The gathering served as a platform to establish a concrete roadmap for Mathura’s urban development while addressing specific grievances and suggestions put forth by the business community.
A 16-Point Charter for Civic Improvement
During the session, the trader representatives submitted a comprehensive 16-point memorandum to Commissioner Aojasvi Raj. The document expressed significant dissatisfaction with the pace of road construction under the CM Grid Scheme, as well as delays in the completion of sidewalks and drainage systems. Specific concerns were raised regarding the Kotwali Road traders who have faced an administrative deadlock for nearly two years despite having paid mutation fees. Furthermore, the delegation highlighted the plight of displaced shopkeepers at Jawahar Haat, who, despite having board resolutions and High Court orders in their favor, continue to struggle with house and water tax assessments.

Other critical issues addressed included a demand for permanent construction for 50-year-old kiosk shops on Arya Samaj Bengali Ghat Road, rental issues for vendors outside the District Hospital, and the presence of obsolete utility poles across the city. The traders also emphasized the need for infrastructure upgrades at Seth Wada on Agra Road, including improved roads, lighting, and public toilets. Similar requests for basic amenities like drainage and drinking water facilities were made for Ghiya Mandi and Govindganj vegetable markets. The delegation further pushed for improved lighting and road maintenance from Bharatpur Gate to Chowk Bazar, the removal of a waste disposal site on the Bhais Bahora route, and the installation of signboards on the path leading to the historic Shri Dwarkadheesh Temple.
Policy Directives and Administrative Transfers
Following a detailed deliberation, Commissioner Aojasvi Raj took decisive action on several long-standing files. The Commissioner summoned the specific administrative records related to the kiosk shop vendors on Agra Road, the displaced persons at Jawahar Haat, the mutation files from Kotwali Road, and the proposals for regularizing shops at Arya Samaj Bengali Ghat Road. Directives were issued to the relevant department heads to expedite these matters and ensure the implementation of the requested measures. The commissioner also ordered officials to take the regional trade bodies into confidence before initiating any anti-encroachment or plastic-related enforcement drives in the future.
Transitions in Municipal Leadership
The meeting also served as a formal venue for administrative personnel changes. The business community bid a warm farewell to Additional Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Singh, who has been promoted and transferred to the role of Additional District Magistrate (City) in Kanpur. Traders honored him with a shawl and traditional patka. Simultaneously, the delegation extended a formal welcome to the newly appointed Additional Municipal Commissioner, Priyanka Singh, who was greeted with a floral bouquet and a patka. The session concluded with a collective commitment to maintaining open communication between the city’s administration and the merchant associations to ensure the effective delivery of essential municipal services.
