Shrikant Sharma is an Indian politician and senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He currently represents the Mathura Assembly Constituency in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Over the years, he has held several important organizational and ministerial responsibilities, including serving as the Energy Minister in the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Early Life and Education

Shrikant Sharma was born on 1 July 1970 in Gatholi village, located on Govardhan Road in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh. Raised in a rural environment, he completed his early education in Mathura before moving to Delhi for higher studies.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) degree from the University of Delhi. During his student years, he became associated with student organizations and developed an interest in public affairs and organizational work.

Political Journey

Shrikant Sharma began his political journey through organizational activities and later became associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party. Within the party, he served in several important roles, including National Secretary and National Spokesperson, representing the party on various national platforms.

In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, he was elected as the MLA from the Mathura Assembly constituency. He retained the seat in the 2022 Assembly election, securing a second consecutive term in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Role as Energy Minister

From 2017 to 2022, Shrikant Sharma served as the Cabinet Minister for Energy in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. During his tenure, the state government implemented several initiatives aimed at strengthening electricity infrastructure, expanding power distribution, improving consumer services, and promoting digital complaint redressal systems, including the 1912 electricity helpline.

Public Life

As the elected representative of the Mathura Assembly constituency, Shrikant Sharma regularly participates in public programmes and development initiatives across the district.
