Govardhan, September 25, 2026: The Govardhan police in Mathura district have arrested three individuals in connection with a violent assault and life-threatening attack stemming from a long-standing land dispute. The arrests took place on September 24, 2026, following a thorough investigation into a case registered earlier this month. According to police reports, the operation was conducted under the ‘Mission Shakti’ initiative, reflecting the department’s heightened focus on addressing violent crimes within the local jurisdiction.

Details of the Arrest and Investigation

The suspects were apprehended at approximately 04.30 AM on September 24, 2026, near the link road leading to Madhurikund village. The police team successfully intercepted the individuals, who were identified as Sahil, son of Lachhi Singh, aged approximately 27 years; Manish, son of Dharmendra Singh, aged approximately 20 years; and Gaurav, son of Dharmendra Singh, aged approximately 20 years. All three accused are residents of Jachaunda village under the Govardhan police station area. During the apprehension, authorities recovered three wooden sticks (lathis) from their possession, which are believed to have been utilized in the commission of the crime.

The arrests were carried out by a specialized team from the Govardhan police station, led by Sub-Inspector Pradeep Kumar Singh, with support from Constable 373 Devendra and Constable 730 Ramsundar. Following the detention, all three individuals were taken into custody and processed according to the relevant legal protocols before being presented before the court.

Background of the Violent Conflict

The case, registered as Mu0A0San 459/2026 at the Govardhan police station, stems from an incident that occurred on September 08, 2026. According to the complaint filed by the victim’s family, the conflict was rooted in a protracted dispute over land ownership. The complainants reported that the accused intercepted a car occupied by brothers Ramu and Amit, proceeding to smash the vehicle’s windshields with sticks before attempting to forcefully extract the occupants.

The situation escalated significantly when the accused followed the victims to their residence. Upon arrival at the house of Ramu, the perpetrators—acting in concert—allegedly launched a coordinated attack on Ramu, Amit, and other individuals who attempted to intervene in the violence. The assailants were reportedly armed with sticks, iron rods, and a sharp-edged weapon locally known as a farsa. The physical altercation resulted in severe injuries to multiple people present at the scene. Based on the formal complaint submitted by the victim, the police registered a case under multiple sections of the BNS, including 191(2), 191(3), 190, 115(2), 352, 351(3), 109(1), and 324(4).

Police Action and Legal Proceedings

The investigation has been characterized by the authorities as a serious matter of public safety. The recovery of the weapons used during the attack is considered a significant breakthrough in the ongoing case. Local officials emphasized that the department remains committed to maintaining order and ensuring that those involved in such acts of organized violence are brought to justice. As the legal process moves forward, the evidence gathered by the team, including the recovered sticks, will be submitted to the judiciary to substantiate the charges against the three detained suspects.

This incident has caused considerable concern among the residents of Jachaunda village. The Govardhan police continue to maintain a vigil in the area to prevent any further escalation of the dispute. Further investigations are underway to ensure that all individuals involved in the planning and execution of the attack are identified and prosecuted according to the law. The police have reiterated their appeal to the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to approach the administrative authorities for resolving civil disputes peacefully.
