Jait, September 16, 2026: Police in Mathura have arrested a 22-year-old man for the possession of illegal narcotics as part of the ongoing Operation Prahar, a targeted initiative by the local administration aimed at curbing the distribution and sale of illicit substances across the district. The arrest was executed by the Jait police station team, which has been actively patrolling areas to maintain security under the mission for women’s safety and empowerment, known as Mission Shakti.

According to the official report released by the Mathura Police, the accused has been identified as Kartik, son of Suresh, a resident of village Bhadeli, located in the Handia area of Prayagraj district. Officers apprehended the suspect on the night of September 14, 2026, at approximately 8:15 PM. The tactical intervention occurred along the unpaved route leading from the Chardham police outpost toward Allepur village. During the search, the police team recovered 491 grams of illegal ganja in the suspect’s possession.

Following the discovery of the substance, the police took the individual into custody and transported him to the Jait police station. Based on the recovery of the contraband, law enforcement officials registered a case against the suspect under Case Crime Number 621/2026, invoking sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. Officials confirmed that the required legal procedures were initiated against the individual immediately after his arrest on September 15, 2026.

The operation was spearheaded by a team of officers from the Jait police station tasked with enforcement duties. The team was led by Station House Officer (SHO) Sonu Kumar. Other personnel involved in the successful operation included Sub-Inspector Manoj Kumar, Head Constable 1157 Vijendra Mohan, and Constable 947 Atul Yadav. The authorities maintain that such actions are consistent with the broader campaign to eliminate drug trafficking networks in the Mathura region.

This arrest marks another development in the district-wide Operation Prahar, which focuses on identifying and detaining individuals involved in the illegal narcotics trade. The initiative is part of a larger administrative strategy, supported by the Mission Shakti program, which seeks to reduce crime rates by tackling the root causes of public disorder. The police have emphasized their commitment to strict enforcement in the coming weeks, particularly in rural and remote routes where illicit activity is often concentrated.

Residents in the vicinity of Chardham and Allepur have been urged by local authorities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station. The accused individual is currently undergoing further interrogation as part of the investigation to determine the origin of the seized materials and potential connections to larger distribution networks. No further arrests in connection with this specific recovery have been announced at this time, though the investigation remains open as the local authorities continue their surveillance efforts under the mandate of the ongoing Operation Prahar. Further legal developments will follow as the case moves through the court system under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
