Uttar Pradesh to Launch Free Public Bus Travel for Senior Women
Uttar Pradesh is launching free public bus travel for women aged 60 and older, fulfilling a commitment made in the BJP’s 2022 Sankalp Patra manifesto.

Mathura, August 25, 2026: The government of Uttar Pradesh is set to introduce a program providing free public transportation for women aged 60 and older. This new service is scheduled to be launched in conjunction with the upcoming Raksha Bandhan festival.
The initiative serves as the fulfillment of a commitment made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The promise for free bus travel for this demographic was formally included in the party’s manifesto, known as the Sankalp Patra, during the 2022 assembly elections.
Under the terms of the policy, women over the age of 60 will be eligible for complimentary travel on public transport systems across the state. This move aligns with the specific pledges outlined in the party’s 2022 election platform, which sought to address transportation accessibility for senior women. Further details regarding the implementation or the specific logistics of the travel scheme were not immediately provided.
