Orientation Program Held for New Veterinary Students at Mathura Institute

Mathura, August 27, 2026: The Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Veterinary Science University and Cattle Research Institute in Mathura recently hosted an orientation program for its newly admitted undergraduate students. The event, held at the Deen Dayal Auditorium, was designed to introduce the incoming batch to the university’s academic culture, institutional values, available facilities, and disciplinary standards.

The program was presided over by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Abhijit Mitra. The gathering included various key officials, such as the Registrar, the Deans of different colleges, the Finance Officer, and the Dean of Student Welfare. During the session, these officials provided insights into the university’s academic and administrative operations, encouraging the students to make the most of the resources available to them.

In his address, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Abhijit Mitra welcomed the students and emphasized that enrolling in a professional course is not merely an academic milestone. He described it as the beginning of a journey focused on knowledge, discipline, responsibility, compassion, and community service. He urged the students to prioritize regular study habits, punctuality, ethical conduct, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Highlighting the scope of the profession, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the role of a veterinarian extends far beyond the medical treatment of animals. He stated that veterinary professionals play a crucial part in animal welfare, livestock productivity, food security, public health, rural development, and sustainable agricultural systems. Furthermore, he encouraged the students to actively participate in practical training, research initiatives, innovation, and community-based activities.

The event also featured guidance from other administrative heads. The Registrar provided details regarding essential admission procedures, while the various Deans emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong interest in regular academic study, research, and practical training. Additionally, the Dean of Student Welfare briefed the students on the various student facilities, welfare programs, and co-curricular activities provided by the institution.

The university’s librarian offered an overview of the educational resources accessible within the library. Meanwhile, the NSS coordinator discussed the significance of both the NSS and NCC programs, motivating the students to join one of these organizations to enhance their extracurricular engagement.

The orientation served as a key platform for dialogue between the new students and the university administration. Attendees described the session as both useful and inspiring, expressing their gratitude to the university faculty and staff. The program concluded with an appeal to the students to uphold the dignity of the institution while striving to become competent, sensitive, ethical, and responsible professionals.
