Mathura Police Arrest Four Planning Dacoity in Govardhan

Govardhan, September 4, 2026: Govardhan police have arrested four men suspected of planning a dacoity in the early hours of September 4, 2026. The suspects were taken into custody following a tip-off received by local law enforcement, leading to a coordinated operation near the Sakra area.

Details of the Operation and Recoveries

According to the official report, the police action took place at approximately 2:15 a.m. when officers intercepted the group near a room located about two hundred meters inside the direction of Sakra. The individuals were found in possession of a significant cache of weaponry and equipment allegedly intended for use in committing crimes. Recovered items include one illegal .315 bore handgun with two live cartridges, one illegal .12 bore handgun with two live cartridges, a knife, an iron shiv, a screwdriver, an iron crowbar, a torch, a wrench, and a solid bamboo stick. Furthermore, police seized 910 rupees in cash from the suspects.

Suspect Profiles and Criminal Histories

The four arrested individuals have been identified as residents of Gonda district. The group includes 27-year-old Ravi, son of Ramu, from village Baldu Ka Purwa; 35-year-old Babadin, son of Jagdamba Prasad, from village Dulhapur; 42-year-old Ramujagar, son of Hanuman alias Hanuman, from village Dulhapur; and 40-year-old Annu, son of Shivprasad, from village Dubhiya. All suspects were booked under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act at the Govardhan police station, registered as case number 449/2026.

The police department has noted that the suspects carry extensive criminal records across several districts in Uttar Pradesh. Ravi is named in multiple cases, including charges under the Arms Act and sections related to attempted murder and theft in Ayodhya, Bahraich, and Gonda. Babadin’s history includes prior cases of theft and robbery in Ayodhya and Prayagraj. Ramujagar has previously faced charges related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and attempted murder in Gonda. Annu’s criminal record lists several cases of theft, robbery, and involvement in the Gangster Act within the jurisdictions of Prayagraj and Sultanpur.

Police Investigation and Enforcement

The successful operation was conducted by a specialized team from the Govardhan police station. The team was comprised of Sub-Inspector Vipin Kumar and Constables Rahul Baliyan, Vishal Chauhan, Sunil Kumar, and Rahul Kumar. The local administration has indicated that the suspects are currently being processed through the standard legal system as the investigation continues into their activities in the Mathura region.

The arrest has been highlighted by local law enforcement as a significant preventive measure against organized crime in the area. Authorities stated that further investigation is ongoing to determine if the group has been involved in other recent criminal incidents within the vicinity of Govardhan and the surrounding areas of Mathura district. The recovered weapons and tools have been processed as evidence for the ongoing legal proceedings, and the suspects remain in judicial custody as the case progresses through the local courts.
