RBI Hosts Townhall Meeting in Mathura to Boost MSME Sector Growth
The Reserve Bank of India held a townhall in Mathura to raise awareness about MSME schemes and encourage banks to provide timely financial support to entrepreneurs.

Mathura, September 13, 2026: In an effort to bolster the local economy, the Lucknow Regional Office of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently organized a significant townhall and awareness camp focused on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Mathura. The session was chaired by Pankaj Kumar, Regional Director of the RBI, Lucknow, who engaged with local entrepreneurs and stakeholders to discuss the vital role the MSME sector plays in driving India’s economic growth and providing widespread employment opportunities across the nation.
Empowering Entrepreneurs Through Awareness
During his address, Pankaj Kumar emphasized the importance of several strategic initiatives and guidelines introduced by the Reserve Bank of India to streamline operations for small business owners. He specifically highlighted the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) and the Unified Lending Interface (ULI), noting that these digital tools are essential for modernizing the way MSMEs manage their cash flow and secure necessary funding. The townhall served as a comprehensive information platform where participants learned about a wide range of government-backed support systems available to them.

Key schemes detailed during the session included the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana, the Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), and the PM SVANidhi scheme. Furthermore, officials discussed the PM Vishwakarma Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarojgar Yojana. Kumar encouraged the local business community to actively leverage these programs, which are designed by both the central and state governments to foster sustainable development and industrial growth at the grassroots level.
Institutional Responsibilities and Financial Inclusion
A major portion of the townhall was dedicated to setting expectations for banking institutions operating within the Mathura district. Pankaj Kumar urged bank representatives in attendance to adopt simplified procedures for lending to ensure that entrepreneurs can access adequate financing without unnecessary administrative hurdles. He stressed that financial institutions must prioritize the settlement of MSME-related funding cases within a strict, time-bound framework to maintain momentum for local businesses.
Supporting this sentiment, Anuradha Sahu, Deputy General Manager of the RBI, provided further guidance to the attendees. She motivated entrepreneurs to capitalize on the various government-sponsored schemes to scale their operations and achieve professional growth. Sahu specifically advised bank officials to maintain proactive coordination with MSME owners and to ensure that loan applications are processed and approved with efficiency and transparency, thereby strengthening the support network for small-scale industries.

The collaborative nature of the townhall underscored a shared commitment to fostering an environment where MSMEs can thrive. By facilitating direct interaction between regulatory bodies, banking institutions, and the entrepreneurs themselves, the RBI aims to reduce information asymmetry and ensure that financial resources reach those who need them most to drive regional prosperity. The administration expects that such structured engagement will lead to more effective implementation of fiscal policies and a more robust pipeline for enterprise credit in the coming quarters for the Mathura district.
