Vrindavan, September 13, 2026: The Vrindavan police have confirmed the arrest of a 22-year-old man who was found in possession of an illegal knife and a stolen purse. According to official reports, the suspect, identified as Sachin, son of Lalman, a resident of Bajna under the jurisdiction of Highway police station in Mathura district, was taken into custody on the evening of 11.09.2026. The arrest took place near the Sunrakh tri-section parking barrier in Vrindavan at approximately 19.14 hours.

Details of the Operation and Recovery

The police operation was led by the Vrindavan police team, which apprehended the suspect just ten steps away from the Gandi Gali Gautam Pada area. Upon conducting a search, officers recovered an illegal knife from the individual. Furthermore, they discovered a purse in his possession, which contained one Aadhar card, one PAN card, and a total of 170/- rupees. Following the recovery, the police registered a case against the suspect at the Vrindavan police station under Case Crime Number 615/2026. The charges filed include Section 317(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4/25 of the Arms Act. Officials stated that legal proceedings are currently underway against the accused.

Criminal History and Police Team

Official records reveal that the accused has an extensive criminal history involving multiple cases in Mathura district. His past record includes several entries, among them Case Crime Number 244/2025 under the NDPS Act and BNS sections, as well as Case Crime Number 585/2024 involving the Arms Act. Additionally, he has been implicated in previous theft and possession of stolen property cases, specifically Case Crime Number 135/2022 and 136/2022 under the former Indian Penal Code at the Govind Nagar police station, along with Case Crime Number 151/2023 at the Vrindavan police station and Case Crime Number 134/2024 at the Kotwali police station.

The police team responsible for the arrest consisted of several officers, including Inspector Ashwani Kumar from the Vrindavan police station and Sub-Inspector Shiv Kumar Sharma, the in-charge of the Bihariji police outpost. They were assisted by Head Constable 667 Ranjeet Singh, Constable 1888 Lavkush, Reserve Constable 246 Rishi Pal, and Reserve Constable 225 Aniket. A photograph released alongside the police report shows the accused, wearing a red t-shirt and jeans, flanked by officers at the time of the processing of his arrest. The local administration continues to monitor the area closely following the incident.
