Mathura, September 29, 2026: Mathura police have arrested three individuals in connection with a violent confrontation that involved stone-pelting, the destruction of property, and an attempted shooting. The incident, which took place in the Refinery area of the district, reportedly stemmed from a minor disagreement regarding the cutting of a tree. Following a formal complaint filed by the victim, local authorities launched an investigation that culminated in the arrest of the three suspects on September 28, 2026.

Details of the Confrontation

According to the official police report, the altercation began on the morning of September 27, 2026, around 10:00 AM. The complainant, a resident of Ganesh Vatika Colony, reported a verbal dispute occurring near his residence regarding a Babul tree. The situation escalated significantly later that evening. At approximately 7:00 PM, a group of individuals, allegedly including the suspects, arrived at the complainant’s home. The complainant stated that the group proceeded to attack the house with bricks and stones, smashed security cameras with sticks, and fired shots from a handgun with the intent to kill.

Police Action and Arrests

Upon receiving the complaint, the Refinery police station registered a case under case number 303/2026, invoking various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 333, 191(2), 191(3), 125, 109, 115(2), 351(2), and 324(4). Acting on a tip-off, a police team successfully intercepted and arrested the three accused on the road from the Bareilly Highway to Koyla Alipur on September 28, 2026, at 1:33 AM.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Jatin, aged 25, a resident of Koyla Alipur; Sachin, aged 28, from Krishna Kunj Township; and 24-year-old Sanskar, a resident of F-7 Kadamb Vihar. While the latter two have no prior criminal records mentioned in the official press note, the primary suspect, Jatin, has an extensive history of legal cases. Records indicate he has been named in 14 separate criminal files spanning various police stations, including the Highway and Sadar Bazar stations in Mathura. These previous charges include incidents involving assault, the use of arms, criminal intimidation, and violations related to the SC/ST Act and the POCSO Act.

Investigation and Law Enforcement

The operation was led by the Refinery police station’s station house officer, Ajay Kaushal. The police team involved in the apprehension included sub-inspectors Vikrant Tomar, Pavindra Kumar, and Kapil Nagar, alongside constables Ashish Kumar and Saurabh Sagar. The accused have been remanded into legal custody, and the investigation into the incident, including the search for other unidentified individuals mentioned in the initial complaint, remains ongoing.
