Mathura to Observe Seth Bhamashah Jayanti on June 29 Says National President Ravikant Garg

Mathura to Join Statewide Seth Bhamashah Jayanti Celebrations on June 29

Mathura, 27 June 2006: The Uttar Pradesh Government will observe Seth Bhamashah Jayanti as Trader Welfare Day on Monday, June 29, 2026, with district-level programmes being organised across the state. The initiative, introduced four years ago under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, aims to honour the contribution of the trading and business community while remembering the legacy of the renowned freedom supporter and philanthropist Seth Bhamashah.

According to the programme schedule, the main state-level event will be held in Lucknow under the guidance of the Chief Minister. The proceedings will be broadcast live through virtual connectivity, enabling district administrations across Uttar Pradesh to participate simultaneously through large-screen arrangements.

The state government has directed district administrations to organise local events in coordination with the Departments of GST, Industrial Development and Culture. Besides the virtual interaction with the Chief Minister, every district is expected to host cultural performances and organise the Bhamashah Samman Ceremony to recognise outstanding contributions from members of the business and entrepreneurial community.

In Mathura and other districts, officials are expected to coordinate the celebrations under the supervision of the District Magistrate. The programmes are intended to acknowledge the role played by traders and entrepreneurs in strengthening the state’s economy, employment generation and commercial development.

Ravikant Garg, National President of the Bhartiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal, former Minister and the first Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Traders Welfare Board, welcomed the government’s decision to continue observing Seth Bhamashah Jayanti as Trader Welfare Day. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on behalf of the state’s business community for institutionalising the celebrations and recognising the contribution of traders.

Garg appealed to entrepreneurs, traders, market associations and office-bearers across Uttar Pradesh to participate in large numbers in the upcoming programmes. He stated that the celebrations provide an opportunity to strengthen the dignity of the trading community while expressing appreciation for initiatives related to security, development and economic progress in the state.

He also urged representatives of various trader organisations to remain in contact with their respective District Magistrates and senior GST officials to assist in planning district-level events and ensure wider participation. According to him, active involvement by local business associations would help make the celebrations more meaningful and representative.

The appeal further encourages office-bearers to personally inform fellow traders, entrepreneurs and market representatives about the scheduled programmes so that participation remains high across districts, cities, towns and major market centres. Organisers believe that broader public participation will contribute to the success of the statewide observance.

Seth Bhamashah is widely remembered in Indian history for his generous support of Maharana Pratap and is regarded as a symbol of philanthropy, patriotism and public service. Through the annual observance of his birth anniversary as Trader Welfare Day, the Uttar Pradesh Government seeks to recognise the historic contribution of the business community while promoting cooperation between traders and the administration.
