India Census 2027: House Listing and Self-Enumeration Process Begins Across Uttar Pradesh
India Census 2027

The Government of India has officially initiated preparations for Census 2027, with Uttar Pradesh beginning the first phase of house listing and self-enumeration activities in May 2026. The campaign focuses on digital participation, household data collection, and detailed residential surveys aimed at improving future planning, welfare distribution, and demographic accuracy.

According to the official information released by authorities, the self-enumeration process for residents in Uttar Pradesh is scheduled from May 7, 2026, to May 21, 2026. During this period, citizens can voluntarily complete their census details online through the official self-enumeration portal.

The second phase involving house listing and housing census surveys will be conducted from May 22, 2026, to June 20, 2026. During this stage, enumerators will visit residential areas to collect detailed information related to housing conditions, family details, facilities available within households, and assets owned by residents.

The official awareness poster highlights that citizens may be asked to provide answers to 33 questions under the Census Act, 1948. These questions are expected to include information regarding house ownership, building condition, number of rooms, water availability, electricity connection, internet access, vehicles, household devices, and family-related demographic details.

Authorities have emphasized that Census 2027 is being conducted with a strong digital focus. For the first time on such a large scale, citizens are being encouraged to use online self-enumeration systems before field officials begin door-to-door verification. The digital process aims to improve transparency, efficiency, and data accuracy. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

Officials have appealed to the public to cooperate with census teams and provide accurate information during both online and physical survey stages.
