Firozabad, October 16, 2026: Journalists in Firozabad have expressed significant anger following an incident at the recent ‘Shri Shyam Bhajan Sandhya’ held at the Tilak Inter College ground. Members of the local press have alleged that the event’s organizing committee demonstrated a lack of respect for the media, resulting in what many are describing as a humiliation of the fourth pillar of democracy.

Reports from the venue indicate that while organizers invested heavily in a grand stage, lighting, and sound systems to accommodate VIPs and guests with comfortable seating, the arrangements for media personnel were vastly different. Journalists covering the event found that a designated area labeled as a “Patrakar Bandhu Media Gallery” had been established directly behind the main stage.

Attendees described the “media gallery” as an area crowded by loud speakers, tangled electrical wiring, and piles of empty iron storage boxes. Journalists stated that the placement of this area made it impossible to obtain a clear view of the proceedings on stage or to hear the bhajans with any clarity. This discrepancy in treatment, where organizers appeared to prioritize VIP comfort while sidelining media workers, has led to a sense of indignation among members of the local press.

Critics of the event have questioned the intent behind creating a dedicated media space that ultimately proved non-functional. Many journalists have raised concerns regarding the attitude of the organizers, asking why the “media gallery” was established if they were unable or unwilling to provide the press with a suitable and professional working environment. The incident has triggered a broader conversation in the district regarding the treatment of journalists by event organizers and the professional standards expected at public gatherings.

The media contingent in Firozabad has publicly challenged the organizers, suggesting that the effort to create a mock media gallery served only to undermine the dignity of the profession rather than facilitate the coverage of the event. As the discourse surrounding the incident continues, the organizers are facing demands to address the concerns raised by the local media community regarding the lack of basic professional consideration shown during the program.
