5,000 Devotees Served Lassi and Buttermilk During Adhik Maas in Mathura

Mathura, June 2: In a remarkable community service initiative during the sacred Adhik Maas period, the Silver Palace Market Vyapar Samiti at Mandi Ramdas organized a large-scale distribution of sweet lassi and salted buttermilk for pilgrims visiting Mathura. Approximately 5,000 glasses of refreshments were distributed to devotees, providing much-needed relief from the intense summer heat.

The service camp witnessed long queues of pilgrims, many of whom were traveling to major religious destinations including Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi, Dwarkadhish Temple, and Yamuna Ghats.

Community Service for Pilgrims

The distribution programme was inaugurated by Shashibhanu Garg, Metropolitan General Secretary of the Trade Association, who personally participated in serving refreshments to devotees.

Speaking on the occasion, Garg said that Adhik Maas attracts a large number of devotees not only from across India but also from abroad. He noted that local traders and business communities have stepped forward to support pilgrims through various service activities being organized across Braj.

He appreciated the efforts of local traders who continue to contribute voluntarily to public welfare and pilgrim assistance during the holy month.

Thousands of Pilgrims Use the Route Daily

Programme organizers Gopal Krishna Agrawal and Saurabh Bansal stated that the Mandi Ramdas route experiences significant footfall during Adhik Maas, as thousands of devotees pass through the area while traveling to Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi, Dwarkadhish Temple, and Yamuna Ji.

According to the organizers, the extreme summer temperatures have increased the need for drinking water and refreshment facilities along pilgrimage routes. To help devotees, the committee organized the distribution of sweet lassi and salted buttermilk throughout the day.

10,000 Devotees to Be Served in Next Phase

The organizers announced that a larger service programme has already been planned for June 4. During the next phase, arrangements are being made to distribute refreshments to nearly 10,000 devotees.

They further stated that similar service activities will continue throughout Adhik Maas as part of their commitment to serving pilgrims visiting Braj.

Growing Spirit of Seva in Braj

Community-led initiatives such as drinking water camps, food distribution drives, medical assistance centers, and refreshment stalls have become increasingly common across Mathura and Vrindavan during Adhik Maas.

Such efforts play an important role in supporting the large number of pilgrims who arrive in Braj during one of the most spiritually significant months in the Hindu calendar.

The MathuraNow View

As Adhik Maas continues to draw thousands of devotees to Braj, local community groups and traders are emerging as important partners in providing comfort and assistance to pilgrims. The Silver Palace Market initiative reflects the long-standing tradition of seva that remains deeply rooted in the culture of Mathura.

With another large-scale distribution programme planned in the coming days, the initiative highlights how collective community participation can contribute positively to the pilgrimage experience during major religious occasions.
