CM Yogi Adityanath Inaugurates ‘Kanha Bhakti Stambh Marg’ in Vrindavan

Mathura News, September 4, 2026: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath officially inaugurated the newly constructed and grand ‘Kanha Bhakti Stambh Marg’ during his visit to Vrindavan on Thursday. This ambitious infrastructure project, developed under the state’s Smart City mission, spans the stretch from the Tourist Facilitation Centre (TFC) to the Panigaon T-point. Executed at a total cost of Rs 23.96 crore, the project aims to redefine the aesthetic and functional standards of one of the most prominent entry points into the holy city of Vrindavan.

The Vision Behind the Kanha Bhakti Stambh

The defining feature of this newly developed thoroughfare is the installation of 84 ornate pillars, conceptually inspired by the Surya Stambh (Sun Pillars) seen along the Dharma Path and Ram Path in Ayodhya. These ‘Kanha Bhakti Stambhs’ have been meticulously crafted to depict the various leelas of Lord Krishna and the deep cultural heritage of the Braj region. During the inspection, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his appreciation for the intricate carvings and the thematic resonance of these structures, noting that they are designed to offer pilgrims an immediate sense of divine connection upon entering the city.

Accompanying the Chief Minister during the inauguration were Cabinet Minister Lakshmi Narayan, the Chief Minister’s advisor Awanish Awasthi, and Vice Chairman of the UP Braj Tirth Vikas Parishad Shailjakant Mishra. The group conducted a detailed walkthrough of the route, with the CM capturing the moment by taking photos with local officials to commemorate the completion of the project. He specifically commended the Mathura-Vrindavan Municipal Corporation for their dedicated efforts in executing the beautification and construction work to such a high standard.

Modern Infrastructure and Traffic Management

Beyond the cultural ornamentation, the Chief Minister emphasized the functional significance of the route for local traffic and crowd management. The project includes the implementation of modern, energy-efficient street lighting, safe pedestrian pathways, and a robust drainage system to prevent waterlogging. By connecting the Tourist Facilitation Centre on the Yamuna Expressway link road directly to the Panigaon T-point, the administration expects to provide a significant relief valve for the city’s dense traffic network.

The Chief Minister remarked that this road is poised to serve as a vital lifeline for Vrindavan, especially during major festivals like Shri Krishna Janmashtami, when the city experiences a massive influx of devotees. Historically, entry points into Vrindavan have faced severe congestion, often leading to gridlock that impacts local residents and tourists alike. With the completion of this widening and strengthening initiative, authorities anticipate that the movement of traffic will become considerably smoother, ensuring a more seamless and accessible arrival for visitors from across the country.
