Main Suspect in Attack on Jain Monk Arrested in Etawah Protest March Called Off

Etawah, August 28, 2026: Police have successfully apprehended the primary suspect in the violent assault on Muni Ekatva Sagar Maharaj. The arrest was made in Etawah following the incident that took place at the Shri Sheetalnath Digambar Jain Ratnatraya Jinalaya located on Kotla Road. The individual was taken into custody after law enforcement agencies acted on mounting pressure from the local community and warnings of a potential mass movement.

The attack occurred at the monk’s chaturmas site, triggered by a dispute regarding the removal of a poster. During the altercation, a man behaved in an abusive manner and attacked the monk with a stone, leaving him with serious injuries. Following the incident, the suspect attempted to mislead the public by circulating an old video on social media that depicted a previous apology. However, Muni Ekatva Sagar Maharaj personally addressed the situation, clarifying that the video was dated and exposing the suspect’s attempt to obfuscate the facts of the new crime.

In response to the assault, several community organizations, including the Padmavati Poorwal Panchayat Mahasabha, the Padmavati Poorwal Panchayat, and the Nasiya Committee, held meetings to express their collective outrage. Representatives of these groups had formally submitted a memorandum to the police regarding the incident. Due to the lack of immediate arrests at that time, the community had organized a large silent march intended to take place on Friday.

Following the arrest of the main suspect, the community decided to cancel the scheduled silent march. Representatives noted that while the police action has provided a measure of relief, the community continues to demand the swift apprehension of all other individuals named in the case.

The local community and various representatives have formally expressed their gratitude toward the administration for the arrest. Those who acknowledged the police action include the President of the Digambar Jain Parishad, Vinod Jain Millennium, along with Jay Prakash Jain, BS Jain, Advocate Ajay Jain, Rajendra Jain, Pramod Jain, Rahul Jain, Dr. Dhirendra Jain, Mukesh Jain, Anuj Jain Tulsi, Mayank Jain Microtech, Sunil Jain, Aadish Jain, Deepak Jain, Shailendra Jain Shaili, Jitendra Jain, Nimish Jain, Akash Jain, Manish Jain, Ajay Jain, and Saurabh Jain.
