Mathura Implements Major Traffic Diversion Plan for Adhik Maas Mela 2026 Ahead of Massive Pilgrim Rush

The Mathura Police Administration has implemented a comprehensive traffic diversion plan for the Adhik Maas Fair 2026 from May 17, 2026, to June 16, 2026. The arrangements have been made considering the expected arrival of a large number of devotees visiting Shri Giriraj Ji Maharaj for parikrama and दर्शन, ensuring smooth movement for pilgrims while preventing severe traffic congestion in and around Govardhan and nearby routes.

According to the official traffic advisory, entry of all types of vehicles will remain restricted on several major routes leading toward Govardhan Parikrama Marg, Radha Kund, Daan Ghati Temple, Jamunavata, Deeg Road, Neemgaon Bypass, Rajiv Tiraha, and Saunk Adda.

Vehicles arriving from the Rajasthan side will be diverted through the Mahmoodpur Chauraha Bamba Bypass route. Similarly, vehicles approaching from Mathura and Deeg Road directions will also be redirected through designated bypass routes to reduce traffic pressure near the pilgrimage areas.

The administration has completely prohibited the movement of all vehicles from Deeg Road Neemgaon Bypass toward Govardhan town. Restrictions will also apply on routes connecting Bugrai Tiraha, Panchayat Ghar Gokuli, Saraswati Kund, New Tehsil, PWD Office, Sumitra Gaushala, Lakshman Tea Stall, Shri Ji Dhaba, and Cut-01 and Cut-02 roads leading toward Radha Kund.

Police authorities clarified that despite these restrictions, emergency services including ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, and other emergency response vehicles will continue to receive movement permission during the fair period.

To assist pilgrims and travelers, the administration has arranged multiple temporary parking facilities at various locations. Separate parking areas for small and heavy vehicles have been designated near Mahmoodpur Chauraha-Saunk Road, Mehri Dham, Red Hot Mix Plant, Jamunavata Helipad, Multi-Level Parking, Deeg Road, Govardhan Grain Market, and Raal Road.

The Mathura Police has appealed to devotees and visitors to review the official traffic plan before beginning their journey and strictly use only the designated routes and parking zones during the Adhik Maas Mela period. Authorities believe that public cooperation will help maintain smooth traffic management and safer movement for millions of pilgrims expected to visit the region during the festival.

The Adhik Maas period is considered highly significant for devotees visiting Govardhan and nearby sacred sites. Every year, thousands of pilgrims arrive for Govardhan Parikrama and temple visits, making traffic management one of the most critical responsibilities for local authorities.
