Mathura Police Arrest Trio for Wedding Fraud

Mathura, August 29, 2026: Mathura police have dismantled a fraudulent gang accused of orchestrating fake weddings to extort money. Officials from the Surir police station confirmed the arrest of three individuals, including a woman, in connection with a case involving a sum of 1.15 lakh rupees. The accused have been processed by the court and subsequently sent to jail.

The investigation began after a complaint was filed by Chandrabhan, a resident of Nagla Jaising. In his formal report to the Surir police, the complainant alleged that he had paid 1.15 lakh rupees under the guise of arranging a marriage for his son. Following the payment, he was taken to a Devi temple located in Panethi, Aligarh, where a wedding ceremony was performed between his son and a woman.

According to the details provided in the police report, the woman was sent back to Chandrabhan’s village following the temple wedding. Shortly after their arrival, the woman allegedly fled the premises along with her suspected accomplices. Upon realizing the deception, the victim’s family approached the local authorities to request legal action.

Acting on the complaint, the Surir police registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter. Law enforcement officials successfully apprehended the three suspects near a ruinous structure known as Khayra Kothi, located within the Khayra police outpost area. The individuals were found hiding under a tree at the time of their arrest.

The arrested individuals have been identified as 48-year-old Sundar, son of Durga, a resident of Agrayala under Shergarh police station; 28-year-old Irfan, son of Iqbal, from Ding Gate Nai Basti under Govind Nagar police station; and a woman identified as Kajal, also known as Rubina.

During the search, police recovered a total of 45,010 rupees in cash and three mobile phones from the accused. Specifically, officers seized 15,500 rupees and a Realme mobile phone from Sundar, while 22,010 rupees and another Realme mobile phone were recovered from Irfan. The woman, Kajal alias Rubina, was found in possession of 7,500 rupees and a Samsung mobile phone.

CO Mant Amarnath Yadav confirmed that the police registered the case based on the provided complaint and successfully arrested all three suspects involved in the incident. Further legal proceedings regarding the case are currently underway.
