Yogi Adityanath Launches Rs 1,051 Crore Development Projects in Mathura

Mathura News, September 4, 2026: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived in Mathura to celebrate the spirit of Krishna Janmashtami, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 229 development projects valued at Rs 1,051 crore. The initiative, held at the Swami Shri Haridas Auditorium within the Gita Research Institute and Raslila Academy, marks a significant push for infrastructure and cultural preservation in the Braj region. During the event, the Chief Minister officially launched 62 projects worth Rs 540 crore and laid the foundation for 167 new schemes costing over Rs 437 crore. Additionally, financial assistance totaling Rs 72 crore was transferred directly to the accounts of beneficiaries under various state housing schemes.

Preserving Braj Heritage Through Development

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized that while foreign invaders attempted to demolish temples and erase Indian history, they failed to shake the deep-rooted faith of the people. He noted that the survival of the Braj region’s traditions, such as the Govardhan Parikrama and the Holi celebrations in Barsana, is a testament to the enduring strength of the Sanatan culture. Highlighting the historical resilience of the region, he remarked that the spiritual continuity of Braj remains untouched despite centuries of external aggression. He credited the persistent efforts of saints and the devotion of millions for keeping this civilization alive through generations, asserting that India’s true essence is reflected in its temples, literature, classical music, and philosophical traditions.

Modern Governance Meets Cultural Pride

The Chief Minister contrasted the current atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh with the state of affairs prior to 2017. He specifically recalled the 2016 Jawahar Bagh incident, which resulted in the loss of 29 lives, including two police officers, to illustrate the transition from a state of chaos to one of progress and order. Under the current double-engine government, the focus has shifted toward integrating heritage with modern amenities. He cited the development of the Kashi Vishwanath corridor and the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya as prime examples of how historical sites are being restored to their former glory while incorporating world-class infrastructure to accommodate rising tourist numbers.

Reflecting on the law and order situation, the Chief Minister claimed that the state has been free from riots and curfews for the past nine and a half years. He stated that the government’s commitment to safety and improved connectivity has turned Uttar Pradesh into a major tourism hub, attracting 156 million tourists in the previous year. This improved security, he argued, has empowered women and encouraged citizens to participate freely in festivals like Deepotsav and the Kanwar Yatra. The administration remains focused on the inclusive development of all sections of society, including youth, farmers, entrepreneurs, and artisans, as part of the vision for a self-reliant nation.

Future Vision for the Braj Region

Looking ahead, the administration is prioritizing the modernization of pilgrimage sites such as Vrindavan, Govardhan, and Nandgaon. The Braj Tirth Vikas Parishad has been instrumental in executing these plans, with Rs 1,000 crore invested over the last eight years to enhance sanitation, connectivity, and visitor facilities. Planned infrastructure improvements include a new ropeway in Vrindavan, mega parking solutions, and the Raya Urban Node project. Furthermore, the establishment of the Surdas Brajbhasha Academy and the development of the 400-acre Saurabhi Van, set to be the largest city forest in Asia, underscore the state’s dedication to both environmental and cultural sustainability. As the Chief Minister concluded his visit, he reaffirmed that India’s path to becoming a developed nation lies in deeply connecting with its rich heritage while embracing modern progress.
