Devotees Immersed in Devotion During Tulsidas Character Leela at Chitrakoot Gaurang Leela
Mathura: A spiritually uplifting atmosphere prevailed during the ongoing Gaurang Leela at Chitrakoot, organized by Shri Ramayan Pracharini Samiti, where devotees witnessed an inspiring presentation of the life and transformation of Goswami Tulsidas. The narration, delivered by Vyas Krishna Murari, captivated the audience and immersed them in devotion to Lord Ram.
The episode focused on the remarkable journey of Tulsidas from worldly attachment to spiritual enlightenment. According to the narration, Tulsidas had become deeply attached to his wife Ratna Bai despite enjoying prosperity and recognition through his Ram Katha recitations.
The Turning Point in Tulsidas’ Life
During the monsoon season, Ratna Bai left for her parental home. Unable to bear the separation, Tulsidas crossed forests and the Ganga River on a stormy night to meet her. In a dramatic incident often associated with his life story, he reportedly mistook a snake for a rope while climbing to reach her residence.
Seeing his intense attachment, Ratna Bai admonished him and remarked that if he had shown the same devotion toward Lord Ram, both their lives would have attained spiritual fulfillment. Her words deeply affected Tulsidas and became the turning point of his life.
Realizing the transient nature of worldly attachment, he accepted Ratna Bai as his spiritual guide and dedicated himself entirely to the path of devotion.
Journey Toward Spiritual Awakening
The Leela further portrayed how Tulsidas sought guidance from Saint Hit Haridas, who advised him to study the Adhyatma Ramayana and undertake spiritual discipline in Kashi. It was narrated that Lord Shiva later blessed him, declaring that he would be known to the world as Goswami Tulsidas.
Another significant episode depicted Tulsidas regularly offering water to a sacred tree. One day, a divine spirit appeared before him and offered a boon. Tulsidas expressed his desire to witness the divine court of Lord Ram.
The spirit directed him toward Lord Hanuman, describing him as the one capable of granting such a vision. Following this guidance, Tulsidas sought Hanuman Ji’s blessings, after which he was instructed to proceed to Chitrakoot.
Divine Vision at Chitrakoot
The audience listened with devotion as the narration described Tulsidas’ arrival in Chitrakoot and the divine grace that followed. It was here, according to tradition, that he received blessings connected to the composition of the Ramcharitmanas.
The presentation also recalled the famous devotional line:
“Tulsidas chandan ghise, tilak det Raghubir.”
With the blessings of Hanuman Ji, Goswami Tulsidas was ultimately granted the divine vision of Lord Ram’s court at Kamadgiri Parvat, marking the culmination of his spiritual journey.
Devotees Moved by the Sacred Narrative
The emotionally rich presentation left many devotees deeply inspired. The Leela highlighted timeless values of devotion, surrender, and spiritual transformation, reminding listeners that even the strongest worldly attachments can become a path toward divine realization.
The event was attended by several devotees and dignitaries, including Lok Dal leader Kunwar Narendra Singh, who was welcomed by Brijesh Neelkanth with a ceremonial shawl.
The program was conducted by Laxman Prasad Yadav. Devotees including Brijgopal Agrawal, Jugalkishore Agrawal, Rajendra Prasad Agrawal, Madan Mohan Agrawal (Adv.), Suresh Sharma, and Rajiv Sharma participated in the Aarti of Lord Ram Darbar.
