Gaur Nimai Sanyas Leela and Kansa Vadh Presented in Mathura's Gaurang Leela

Audience Moved and Inspired During Gaur Nimai Sanyas Leela

Mathura: During the ongoing Gaurang Leela being staged at Chitrakoot under the banner of Shri Ramayan Pracharini Samiti, Vyas Krishna Murari presented the emotionally powerful episode of Gaur Nimai accepting Sanyas in the morning session, while the evening session featured the dramatic and devotional presentation of Kansa Vadh Leela.

In the morning presentation, Gaur Nimai informed his close companion Nityanand of his decision to embrace the path of renunciation. Before leaving, he requested him to take care of his revered mother and his wife Vishnu Priya. Thereafter, he crossed the sacred Ganga and proceeded towards the forest to begin his spiritual journey.

The residents of Navadweep, deeply attached to Nimai, pleaded with him to continue fulfilling the responsibilities of household life. Filled with emotion, they also approached Swami Keshav Bharati and strongly requested him not to initiate Nimai into the order of Sanyas.

Swami Keshav Bharati explained to Nimai that attachment to wealth and worldly relationships often becomes the greatest obstacle in accepting renunciation. He advised him to wait until the age of fifty before formally embracing Sanyas and assured him that he would then grant him initiation.

However, the divine aura of Nimai’s Haribol Sankirtan deeply impressed Guru Keshav Bharati. Witnessing his extraordinary devotion and spiritual radiance, the Guru eventually agreed to initiate him. A barber was called to perform the traditional head-shaving ceremony, after which Nimai received mantra initiation and formally entered the Sanyas order.

According to the divine proclamation heard during the Leela, Nimai was thereafter given the spiritual name Shri Krishna Chaitanya Dev. The audience watched the emotional sequence with devotion and reverence as the transformation of Nimai into Shri Krishna Chaitanya was enacted on stage.

The evening session shifted to the famous Kansa Vadh Leela. The narrative began with Narad Ji arriving in Braj Dham and meeting Lord Krishna. Narad informed Krishna that the end of Kansa’s reign was approaching and requested him to free the people from the tyrant’s oppression.

Simultaneously, Narad met Kansa and advised him to invite Krishna and Balram to Mathura. Kansa instructed his trusted commander Akrur, who was respected by both Kansa and Nand Baba, to bring the two brothers to Mathura under the pretext of honoring them and inviting them to participate in the Dhanush Yagya.

When the invitation arrived, Yashoda Mata and Nand Baba became overwhelmed with grief and pleaded with Krishna not to leave for Mathura. They feared the dangers awaiting him there. Krishna, however, reassured them and promised that everything would be well.

Upon reaching Mathura, Krishna encountered the washerman sent by Kansa and defeated him. He also destroyed the hunchback elephant dispatched to kill him. The Leela further depicted the redemption of Kubja and the blessings bestowed upon the tailor and the gardener, who received the Lord’s grace.

The climax unfolded in the royal arena where wrestling contests were organized. Krishna and Balram defeated the powerful wrestlers one after another. Following the destruction of Kansa’s champions, the two brothers confronted Kansa himself.

In a dramatic conclusion, Krishna and Balram brought an end to Kansa’s tyranny. Kansa was slain, and Ugrasen was restored to the throne. The brothers then proceeded to the prison and freed their parents, Vasudev and Devaki, who had long suffered under Kansa’s rule.

The emotional and devotional performances left devotees deeply moved and spiritually uplifted. The audience responded with enthusiastic chants and applause as the timeless message of righteousness triumphing over evil resonated throughout the venue.

The programme was conducted by Lachhman Prasad Yadav. Aarti of the divine forms was performed by Rajni Tayal, Asha Agrawal, Meera Agrawal, Omvati Agrawal, Charu Singhal, Shashi Garg, Prabhat Sarraf, Bharat Bhushan Singhal, Madhav Sharan Agrawal and Sumit Agrawal.
